Future developments

The HRN™ mouse has already proved to a valuable tool in preclinical drug development, but CXR Biosciences is continuing to improve on this model. We have a 'double tissue knockout' in development where the P450 system has been disabled in both the liver and small intestine to further improve its use in elucidating the in vivo drug metabolism.

CXR is also currently developing additional ‘disease’ mouse models on the HRN™ background that will be invaluable in determining efficacy without drug metabolism. For example, we have already developed a HRN™ nude mouse for xenograft studies that is currently being validated.

In addition CXR is also developing models where the hepatic CYP activity is being replaced with a human isoform. One model under development incorporates human CYP 3A4 in the liver that will enable specific investigations into the consequences of human CYP3A4 metabolism in vivo.

CXR is also developing an HRN rat model for wider use in toxicological studies.
