History

CXR Biosciences was established in December 2001 by Prof Roland Wolf and Dr Cliff Elcombe as a spin-out from Dundee University, Scotland and has now grown into an established profitable business. CXR has had two rounds of private investment and now employs over 36 staff recruited from both industrial and academic backgrounds, over 50% of whom have PhD's. The combination of academic excellence together with extensive industrial experience in drug metabolism and toxicology provides unique insights into new approaches for preclinical drug development.

In addition to developing innovative technologies to improve drug discovery & development, CXR's innovative approach has also been successfully applied to assist companies with ADMET characterisation, lead compound selection, investigative toxicology, product rescue, and product advocacy. To date, we have helped over 60 companies/consortia of all sizes  across a broad range of different sectors including pharmaceutical, biotech, agrochemical, consumer product and fine chemical industries. These have included: GlaxoSmithKline, AstraZeneca, Schering-Plough, Sanofi-Aventis, Pfizer, Millipore Coporation, Taconic-Artemis GmbH, Procter & Gamble, Cancer Research Technology, Ineosfluor, Ineoschlor, Plastics Europe, Dow Agrochemical and ECPI.
